- <p class="bodycontent-text-FS_1">《巴斯克维尔的猎犬》首次发表于1901年8月至1902年4月，连载于《斯特兰杂志》（<i class="calibre7">The Strand Magazine</i>）。题献当中的“罗宾森”指的是英国记者及作家弗莱彻·罗宾森（Bertram Fletcher Robinson，1870—1907），这篇故事的灵感因他而来。这个题献据美国单行本译出。在《斯特兰杂志》连载第一部分的脚注当中，柯南·道尔也向罗宾森表示了感谢，措辞比这个题献明确得多：</p>
- <p class="bodycontent-text-FS_1">“此故事灵感来自吾友弗莱彻·罗宾森先生，故事大纲及风土细节皆得罗宾森先生之助。”</p>
- <p class="bodycontent-text-FS_1">这个题献当中的“西部”（west country）是对英格兰西南部一片地区的统称，其中包括德文郡。</p>
