- <p class="bodycontent-text-FS_1">这篇故事首次发表于1922年2至3月，分两部分连载。篇名中的“雷神”英文为“Thor”，为北欧神话当中的雷神。故事第一段当中“菲利莫尔先生的遭遇”可能有现实所本。柯南·道尔曾在自传《回忆与冒险》（<i class="calibre7">Memories and Adoentures</i>，1924）当中记述，他曾经听说过一个发生在美国的事件，星期日傍晚，一个男人正在跟家人一起散步，突然发现自己忘带了什么东西，于是走回家去取，就此永远失踪。</p>
